Camp De Soto Gathering of Eagles 2018

The De Soto Area Council has opened its arms to the Boy Scouts of Troop 428, Rio Bravo, Texas by hosting the Camp De Soto Gathering of Eagles 2018.  The Gathering of Eagles is a Boy Scout summer camp experience for youth who are interested in learning about and becoming a Boy Scout.  There will be two, one week sessions.  Week 1 will be July 14 – 20 and Week 2 is July 21 – 27.  This is for boys and girls who are ages 9 - 17 who have never been a Scout or are brand new to Scouting.  For those who did not know or believe that they could be a Boy Scout.  Those that felt that Boy Scouting was too expensive or out of reach for them.  An opportunity to experience the outdoor Scouting adventures of hiking, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, archery, marksmanship, climbing, rappelling, pioneering, scout craft, cooking and more while camping for a week at Camp De Soto in El Dorado, Arkansas.  After camp participants will be able to join a Scout Troop in their local community.  Parents and adult volunteers wanting to serve as unit leaders are also welcome.  The camp staff are volunteer youth and adult Boy Scouts who have earned the distinction of Eagle Scout as well as others who are committed to serving and helping others.
