Murphy USA El Dorado Shoot Out

De Soto Area Council Announced as Beneficiary

We wanted to share with everyone that our council will be the 2019 Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout beneficiary.  This is great news for our council!  The tournament is being held from April 26-28 at Mystic Creek Golf Course with activities all week beginning April 22 leading up to the tournament. For those of you who may not know what the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout is it is a women's professional golf tournament that is part of the Symetra Tour.  Golfers from this tour will eventually join the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association).  To learn more about this tournament click on this link,

As the beneficiary we've been asked to have volunteers assist with different aspects of the tournament.  Below is a list of age appropriate volunteer opportunities for our Scouts and any siblings that may wish to participate as well along with the link to volunteer using the tournament's volunteer portal.  Please share with your parents and other leaders to help us. The sooner you sign up the more likely you will have the position that would like.

2019 El Dorado Shootout Volunteer Website is Live! Both Youth and Adults can volunteer

We hope you’ve marked your calendars for the 2019 Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout taking place April 22 – 28 at Mystic Creek. We are thrilled to be hosting our fifth Symetra tournament in Southern Arkansas and even more excited to be able to give back to the local community. This year’s tournament will benefit the Boy Scouts of America – De Soto Area Council.

We are pleased to announce that the volunteer website is officially open for registration! We need many volunteers in order to make this event a success. If you haven’t volunteered before, or even if you have, we want YOU to sign up! Please click here to get started.

As a reminder, last year we added a texting feature to the volunteer sign up process. If you would like to receive important volunteer updates or schedule change notifications, we encourage you to select the text message option when you register. If you have any questions about the event or overall registration process, please e-mail

In addition to volunteers, we are also looking for housing hosts. As a housing host, you have the unique opportunity to get to know the players on a personal level by inviting them to stay in your home during tournament week. Hosts also provide the players with a comfortable home away-from-home environment. Time and time again, lasting friendships are developed out of this once in a lifetime experience.
If your family would like to host a player, please contact Tricia Vickery at

Thank you for your time and we look forward to seeing you at the course!

Signing Up as a Pack or Troop

All volunteers must use the volunteer portal (found above), but we know that sometimes using online systems like this can be a challenge. If you have parents who would like to volunteer and/or Scouts who would like to volunteer, but you find it will be easier for the unit to register everyone, you can do so.  There is on very important step to this though and that is having the waiver signed by those who will be volunteering.  You can click on the link below to download the waiver and share it with parents.  You will need to collect signed waiver forms from those who will be volunteering prior to entering them through the portal.  Please send the completed waiver forms to the Scout Office located at 118 West Peach St., El Dorado.

Volunteer Positions - For both youth and adults

Below are a list of job descriptions that would be age appropriate for troops to sign up for.  All volunteers must sign up through the website, as there is a waiver that needs to be signed.  If there are any last minute volunteers who would like to help, we always keep extra forms out at the course that a parent or guardian can sign.  As we discussed, the troops/parents will be wearing a collared Boy Scouts shirt/uniform.  Shorts may be worn or long pants.

Tips: If assigned to cart cleaning, they can wear a Scout T-shirt.
If assigned to be a spotter, pants are recommended, as they may be around tall grass.
